THE BETDAQ PREMIER LEAGUE GREYHOUNDS 2011/12 COMPETITION ‘PREMIER LEAGUE GREYHOUNDS’ IS THE PROPERTY OF GOBATA PREMIER LEAGUE LTD.
TEAM All trainers are invited to participate in the inaugural Premier League competition.
You can enter a team comprised solely from greyhounds in your kennel or, if you feel you would not have 5 greyhounds available/suitable yourself, you can combine with other trainers to form a team – perhaps with trainers attached to your track or any other track or, if unattached, trainers similarly unattached - there on no restrictions on who your form a team with. The only stipulation is that a trainer can only represent one team in any Premier League event (ie your qualifier and 4 nights of Premier League races.)
QUALIFYING Teams will initially be drawn in a series of qualifiers, the first of which will take place at Doncaster on November 16th 2011. The next 2 qualifiers will be in December this means you will only be required to run your team once this year as the 1st leg of the Premier League proper takes place in January 2012, and the 4th leg and grand final is scheduled for late February 2012.
QUALIFYING RACES To avoid clashes with major events the races your team will compete in will vary. The 1st Qualifier at Doncaster will comprise:
One Sprint,
2 four bend standards,
one four bend puppy and
one four bend Bitches* (*to be decided in consultation with the participating trainers.)
There will be no 6 bend race to avoid clashes with the Yorkshire St Leger, unless trainers request one.
In the December qualifiers for example there may be a 6 bend race and perhaps the puppy race will be dropped to avoid a possible clash. The composition of the races in both the qualifiers and Premier League will be driven by mutual suitability between other events and the participating trainers wishes.
Each race in the qualifier carries a £500 winners prize and run money of £50. Each team who fails to qualify will receive £250.
Each runner in the team scores points (Winner scores 6 points,2nd place 5 points and so on). The teams total score over 5 races determines qualification.
BETDAQ PREMIER LEAGUE GREYHOUNDS 2011/12 Commencing in January 2012 there will be 4 nights of 5 races at fortnightly intervals. Each race has £1,000 in prize money. One of the 5 races, drawn at random on the night, will carry an additional prize to the winner of £1,000 split 50:50 between owner and trainer. The winning trainer on each of the 4 nights wins £500 (others £100).
The overall winning trainer receives £1,000 (runner up £250 others £100). At the completion of the Premier League (ie after 4 nights) the 2 teams finishing 5th and 6th will be relegated and replaced by the top 2 teams from further qualifiers. As with the qualifiers each leg is decided on points. Teams carrying forward points (1st 3 ½ :2nd 3:3rd 2 ½:4th 2:5th1 ½ :6th 1) to subsequent legs to determine the overall winner after leg 4.
Trainers, not owners, can win for themselves a maximum of £5,000 over the 4 nights of the Premier League. The minimum guaranteed is £500
JOKERS Each team will play a Joker which will double the points scored by their selected greyhound.
ENTRY FEE In order that we can offer this level of owner/trainer prize money - bearing in mind that each series cost in excess of £80,000 to run - each race carries an entry fee of £50 (£250 per night). This entry fee will not be required in advance and will simply be deducted from prize monies won (this will always leave a surplus which will be forwarded to you.)It is hoped that in the long run this entry fee can be dropped, however we have received initial finance from host tracks, sponsors and GOBATA members to launch the event so support from owners/trainers helps with the initial funding.
LEVY A levy of 5% of winners prize money will be used for future grass roots initiatives as suggested by GOBATA members.
ENTRY FORMS Team entries for the BETDAQ Premier League Greyhounds 2011/12 season closed on October 31st 2011.
